AV Comparatives - Performance Test

The “Performance Test” certification is a recognition granted by the AV-Comparatives company, which tests and evaluates the performance of security and antivirus software. This certification focuses specifically on measuring the impact that security solutions have on the performance of the systems where they are installed.

This test by the renowned Austrian laboratory evaluates the impact that the 17 major antivirus software programs have on system speed and performance. This is done by measuring the extent to which processes are slowed down on a PC while the security program is in action.

Our product has been recognized as very fast in all categories, earning the Advanced+ Performance award in 2023 and 2024.

"“Up until very recently, we used to read articles and comments from people who were reluctant to install antivirus software because it slowed down computers. That’s a thing of the past. At Panda, we have been investing resources for a long time to make sure that antivirus processes do not slow down computer performance. We cannot let antivirus programs hinder users’ Internet activities or security because pages do not load, for example. We don’t just focus on viruses and threats. Our priority is maximum efficiency, that is, being able to provide maximum protection with minimal computer resource usage,” ”, explains Alberto Añón, Consumer Product Manager at Panda Security..

The goals of AV-Comparatives’ Performance Test are:

  • Evaluate impact on performance: Determine how security applications affect speed and overall system efficiency.

  • Provide objective insights: Provide consumers and companies with objective data about the performance of different antivirus solutions, helping them make informed decisions.

  • Promote efficiency in security software: Encourage security software developers to optimize their products so that they provide effective protection without compromising system performance.

AV Comparatives - Real World Protection Test

This AV-Comparatives test focuses on measuring the real-world protection capabilities of antivirus software, simulating the typical PC use experience in a controlled test environment.

AV-Comparatives is a globally recognized authority in testing cybersecurity solutions. The Austrian laboratory has a long history assessing the quality and protection levels of cybersecurity products worldwide. Its reports have recognized Panda Security’s work and efficacy with official certifications and seals of approval on multiple occasions. For example, Panda Security has been shown to provide the best detection capabilities by blocking 100 percent of threats (Real-World Protection Test July-October 2021).

The Real-World Protection Test is as close as it gets to a real-world scenario. To do this, AV-Comparatives runs lab tests with malicious URLs just like the URLs any user can find. Additionally, its tests examine all features of each security suite. This way, the laboratory achieves a more realistic evaluation of a product’s efficacy.

The goals of AV-Comparatives’ Real-World Protection Test are:

  • Evaluate protection efficacy: Measure the ability of antivirus solutions to detect and block real-world threats, including viruses, malware, ransomware, and other forms of malicious software.

  • Replicate real-world scenarios: Use real-world threats and use cases to assess the capabilities of security solutions to protect user systems in real-life situations.

  • Provide objective insights: Provide consumers and companies with objective data about the effectiveness of different antivirus solutions, helping them make informed decisions.

Appsteem deceptor fighter

AppEsteem's “Deceptor Fighter” certification is awarded to companies and software developers that undertake to combat deceptive practices in their apps and services. AppEsteem is an organization dedicated to improving software quality and transparency, evaluating and certifying apps to make sure they comply with high ethical and technical standards.

AppEsteem analyzes software apps with the aim to clean the Internet. It does not focus only on programs that could put viruses on computers, but also on programs designated as deceptors. As a result, the company generates lists of potentially unwanted applications (PUA) and unwanted software (UwS).

This is where Panda Security comes in. As part of our commitment to protecting Internet users and supporting a clean Internet, we collaborate in the search for and quarantine of deceptive apps. And, according to the results of the latest AppEsteem test, Panda Dome achieves a 100% risk blocking rate.

The goals of AppEsteem’s Deceptor Fighter certification are:

  • Encourage ethical practices: This certification aims to encourage the development and distribution of clean apps, calling out deceptive tactics that can mislead or harm consumers.

  • Boost transparency: Apps that receive this certification must be as clear as possible regarding their features, advertising, and data collection practices.

  • User protection: Make sure that certified apps are not involved in malicious or fraudulent activities and provide an additional layer of security to end users.
