Leading IT security company Panda Security has created a new Beta version of Panda Managed Office Protection, its managed security service. This new version includes a series of new features for companies (end-clients) as well as partners and VARs.
Panda Managed Office Protection is a Web-based security subscription service. It frees SMBs from the need to buy and manage additional hardware or contract maintenance personnel and other resources dedicated to antivirus protection, and guarantees maximum security for all PCs, laptops and servers. As a managed service, it provides an always-on and easy-to-use Web console which allows organizations to manage their protection remotely, anytime from anywhere, reducing complexity to a minimum. This makes it the ideal solution for centralized management of remote offices in large organizations, with no need for investment in additional infrastructure.
It also offers Security as a Service via the Web and through a management portal that enables SMBs to delegate their security management to a service provider.
Improvements that end-clients will enjoy in this new version include sending of detection warnings via SMTP with authentication, management of licenses for the various protection modules and enhancements to the reports and monitoring tools.
Similarly, this new Beta version includes many new features for partners and VARs such as the option for enabling/disabling remote updates, choosing the default language for clients’ protection and centralized viewing from the service provider console.
In addition, as an incentive to the betatester community, Panda Security has launched a competition to coincide with the launch of this new Beta version. All participants have to do is try the Panda Managed Office Protection Beta version 5.03 and report any bugs they find. The competition is divided into three categories:
• Best compatibility bug.
• Best product functionality bug.
• Best linguistic bug.
Panda Security will award first, second and third prizes for each of these categories. The prizes consist of travel vouchers which can be exchanged for trips and spa breaks. Just for taking part in the Panda Managed Office Protection betatester program, companies and partners will be entitled to discounts when buying the Panda product. The more time the product is installed and operating, the greater the discount: From 15% for having the product installed between 6 and 10 days, up to 80% for having it between 31 and 40 days.
