For proof of this, we need look no further than the amount of connected devices in the world, which reached 22 billion at the end of 2018. This figure represents an exponential increase in the attack surface, and means that paying attention to the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of cybercriminals is more important than ever if we are to shore up our organizations against incidents.
This year we have seen an unprecedented number of cyberattacks on all kinds of organizations, using a wide range of advanced techniques. Foremost among the techniques analyzed is ransomware, which has hit enterprises worldwide; supply chain attacks, which get around traditional cybersecurity measures by breaking into vendors’ systems; and BEC scams, which use a combination of spear phishing and social engineering to steal large sums of money.
