I'm happy to announce that we've finally published our first release beta version of Panda Cloud Antivirus, the first free cloud-based antivirus thin-client (yes, it's a free AV and yes, it's really a thin-client). It is available at www.cloudantivirus.com.
Panda Cloud Antivirus consists of a lightweight antivirus agent that is connected in real-time to PandaLabs’ Collective Intelligence servers to protect faster against the newest malware variants while barely impacting PC performance.
With Panda Cloud Antivirus we introduce a new protection model based on a thin-client agent & server architecture which services malware protection as opposed to locally installed products. By combining local detection technologies with cloud-scanning capabilities and applying non-intrusive interception techniques on the client architecture, Panda Cloud Antivirus provides some of the best protection with a lightweight antivirus thin-client agent that barely consumes any PC resources.
Of course keep in mind that this is still beta code and as such we continue improving and tuning both the cloud architecture and detection techniques as well as the agent architecture, specially now during the initial phases. That's why we're calling out to betatesters out there to help us test this new protection model in different scenarios.

just have downloaded and checked, interface is really cool, and detection is like your other 2009 products, waiting for PIS 20X beta
Does it protect as a fully paid Panda like spyware?
Installation doesn’t give me a system tray icon or access to configuration. Have downloaded & installed twice.
@alt, Panda Cloud AV does protect against malware, spyware, rootkits, etc. like the full Panda product. However it does not include firewall, anti-spam, parental control, etc. nor tech support.
@Mike, does this happen even after a reboot?
Panda Cloud is great. Protection without handcuffs
I’m getting an error code 1 from time to time, but only after the scan is all done. Is there a list of codes somewhere ? What’s code 1 ?
Thx,
Scott
its better to have option “move file to quarantine” manually, in case a file is not detected by heuristics scan.
Anti-virus is working great. I find it is discovering things that aren't necessarily malware, but they are administrator tools, so could be seen as malicious. I also see that after some reboots, the tray icon disappears. The service is still running if I check in Task Manager, and the interface will come up if I select the program from the Start > All Programs area. Could be interaction with other programs? I am running PC Tools Firewall Plus, Threat Fire and Super Anti-Spyware in addition to Panda.
Try running the following command to see if re-appears:
“C:Program FilesPanda SecurityPanda Cloud AntivirusPSUNMain.exe” /Traybar
I am having problems installing software with my panda cloud antivirus. Therefore, I have attempted to uninstall the antivirus software. It uninstalled parts but not all. I am not unable to get a command line to run anything in and I cannot get to my registry. Suggestions?
Potential users may wish to be informed that, despite comments in review articles, and on download sites (e.g. http://www.topshareware.com/Panda-Cloud-Antivirus-download-69774.htm)that this release supports Win9x, I find after downloading and starting the installer I get one simple terse error message along the lines that “Panda Antivirus accnot be installed on this system”. My system: 600 megahertz Intel Pentium III running Win98SE.
1 question .
why CI takes too much time to respond, there are many files in quarantine in PIS 2009 / cloud av which are not classified as maleware yet, some of them were detected by heuristics scan and some of them by TruPrevent,
i have sent those files to virussamples@pandasecurity.com for detection but no result yet ?
@knope, please contact beta@pandasecurity.com. They’ll send you either manual uninstall instructions or an uninstaller.
@buddee, yes we are aware of this issue. You should see the response time improve greaty in the short term.
if you guys improve response time of files sended by panda products , no doubt panda will hit 99.99% virus detection rate very soon
Installed Panda Antivirus Beta Cloud. My system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, the Security Center reports that the malware protection is disabled because the system can not find any antivirus software on your computer. How to fix this problem?
@Pedro, plz do inform us when CI response time will be improved, waiting to test CI with lots of unknown samples
Will this work under ubuntu linux?
It worked great for a few weeks then it seems like the largest malware in the world, Windows Vista, found out about its existence and now it can’t be initiated. I tried to downgrade to XP then I found out that there is no driver for my wireless card on this Vista hijacked Compaq laptop. I am sick and tired of Windoze and going to Linux…
If doesn’t show the tray icon restart your PC 🙂
Worse AV software ever installed.
It didn’t even recognized known trojan virus.
This notification runs everytime I turn on my computer, and I no longer have my free Panda antivirus protection!
“This application has failed to start because rtl120.bpl was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.”
PSUNMain.exe unable to locate component.
I tried to reapply for Panda Anti-Virus, but it doesn’t work.
What is wrong? What can be done to repair this problem? HELP
@Tucker, please uninstall, reboot and then re-install Panda Cloud Antivirus Beta2 (download again from http://www.cloudantivirus.com). If the problem persists please send an email to beta@pandasecurity.com with the details.

I've downloaded it but does it have an updater?
Hi there,
isn't it a bit ironic to name it a thin and light AV cient?
Such a big download and install size isn't thin and light!
If you compare it to something like PrevX (cloud-anti-malware), then you will see what I mean.
Download size below 1 MB!
Using almost only 10 MB of RAM!
Light on resources and cpu utilization.
Compare that to Cloud-AV.
(EDIT out URL)

iNsuRRecTiON
@iNsuRRecTiON, the fact that it’s light and thin has nothing to do with the download size. Rather it has to do with the performance impact on the PC (CPU, RAM, reading, writing, launching apps, etc.). In this respect while the average of the normal AV apps is around 13% performance impact (according to different studies using WorldBench PI), with Cloud Antivirus we’ve managed to bring it down to 3% performance impact. This is what counts.
Regarding PrevX, it’s also a good product but it doesn’t protect while you’re not connected to the Internet. Panda Cloud Antivirus does.
