that’s just half of the program that is free then… that’s what’s keeping me from trying it… the word “considerably”.. other than that it looks great may be a major thing for Panda.
Yes that was noted by someone else who posted it. It does read weird and we’ll fix it. Probably not “until the end of the world” but I can guarantee it will be free after beta is over.

i myself have been using avg free and replaced it with cloud antivirus for now. i was assuming that the updates to new version would be automated. apparently in beta editions they are not. too bad.
anyways, i am still failing to see cloud antivirus perform as well as regular antiviruses on my computer. it did not ask for restart after installation and it failed to detect a sureshot virus file during that period.
after restarting, it did detect that virus file properly. deleted it. too bad there is no quarantine for me to get that file back. i would hate to lose important files that are caught by this antivirus and it removes them without any way for me to restore them.
i will keep using it on 2 of my machines to see how it progresses. it would be terrible if the final version (free edition) is not as capable as it should be.
@Sushubh, thanks for testing it. You can access the Recycle Bin from the folded bottom-right corner of the application.

the recycle bin does not show the file cloud antivirus removed from my system!
I have the same problem, some of my files were wrongly detected as trojans and deleted, but I can’t find where to restore them, they are not in the recycle bin, what I can do?
I sent a feedback from the cloud antivirus homepage, but no response yet…
@Sushubh i think it’s because the virus was deleted not neutralized . the recycle bin says it only stores neutralized files.

what’s the difference of the Panda Cloud AV that is connected to the internet and the Panda Cloud AV that is not connected? Is the difference minimal or Panda Cloud must be always connected to the internet?

@Sushubh, Regarding Cloud Antivirus deleting trojans and malware it finds, this is how pretty much all AVs work nowadays. The Recycle Bin holds detections of suspicious files (heuristics) and certain types of detections such as hacking tools. From there you can unblock them.
@Donald can you send us a copy of these files to beta@pandasecurity.com and pedro.bustamante@pandasecurity.com to verify if they are malware or truly false positives?
@Kevin, Cloud Antivirus must not always be connected to the Internet. Of course when you connect it does a lot of the scanning from the cloud. But this is not a requirement.
@Pedro Bustamante Thank you for your kind reply, but I can’t find the files as they has been deleted by Cloud Antivirus… I don’t think this is a proper behavior when deleting a file which is identified as trojan or malware without quarantining it first. I just want to know how I can find the files.

@Donald, we’re thinking about changing this behaviour to contemplate this problem. One option would be to save the file for x amount of time in the Recycle Bin, so that you are able to recover in case of false positive or other scenarios. Would this be more acceptable or do you have a different suggestion?
Ok i am not into the technical stuff, all i know is it works for me, so keep up the good work folks.
Nice and easy to use application that will benefit a lot of non-techies as well as techies.
I download a fair bit of malware and visit infected sites, so far panda Cloud has found all malware that I have downloaded, but as has been mentioned, it simply gets deleted and does not go into the Recycle Bin.
I look at the events report and find 12 Trojans, 12 Adware, 7 others, which is what I expected knowing what I had downloaded and also moved to other drives, BUT there are only 2 files showing in the Recycle Bin.
A quarantine for x days would be a better option as FP’s will occur at some point. It does detect the EICAR test files as any good AV should do, but unlike some traditional AV’s, when visiting known malicious sites there is no warning.
At the moment this is performing better than traditional AV’s and antimalware and finding viruses, trojans, rootkits etc as it should do and removes them easily when either downloaded or attempting to execute them.
I should point out that I use a test machine for downloading this stuff and I also found it beneficial to scan first with a standard AV and antimalware, then download Panda Cloud, uninstall the AV, clean the registry and temp files, then reboot and install Panda and carry out a FULL SCAN.
That would for most users be one time operation as they would have updated protection each time they they connect to the net without having to download any definition files.

@cotojo the issue you’re seeing with the quarantine (Recycle Bin) is basically the “automatic management of suspicious” files. Basically both suspicious and certain hacking tools/potentially unwanted programs are sent to the Recycle Bin. In the case of suspicious, they remain in the Recycle Bin until Collective Intelligence has finished analyzing the file and determined if its truly malware or goodware. If its goodware, the file is released. If its malware, its deleted silently.
i love it when people use beta software and complain that it removed files and they cant get them back. Key word here guys BETA.
I removed NOD32 security suite to try this Cloud out. Only thing I did not like is that when I downloaded a test “virus” file from http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm it did not see it right away. I had to manually scan it then it seen it and removed it. My NOD32 would have stopped it while it was downloading or as soon as it was done.
I will continue to test.

There are, sometimes, very important files and I would never let anti-virus program to choose whether to delete them.

Read about this in Micro Mart magazine (UK) and thought I’d give it a whirl – no problems so far and by the looks of things no infections either. Y’know, it strikes me that this could be marketed in an interesting way as an asset which can help prolong the useful life of low spec PCs (which is either vaguely green or at least the more respectable kind of greenwash), as it needs so little HDD space/RAM. Combine it with the general wonders of the cloud and the miracle which is LogMeIn.com and suddenly we’re all doing impossibly demanding tasks on ten-year-old laptops with 512Mb of RAM – well, I certainly am. Extra bamboo shoots all round!
@Zax You know you’re not the first one to mention this. On some other post @Tim is making a lot of emphasis in exactly the same argument with older PCs 🙂
im using pandacloud and avg antivirus, do this slow my system, or will conflict during an operation?

Using both will slow you down and cause conflicts. You need to uninstall one of them (cloud AV has better detection, so AVG would be my pick to remove).
